Agriculture on the Farm
We are a certified organic farm and specialize in growing a wide variety of interesting vegetables on a year-round basis. We utilize a combination of high tunnels, a greenhouse and several acres of farmland to produce our crops. Our organic produce is available year-round at our Harvest Shop, as well as through our CSA and the North Atherton Farmers Market.
Places to find our organic produce:
The Harvest Shop
We sell our organic produce at our farm store throughout the year. From asparagus to zucchini, with some root crops and greens thrown in, our seasonal, fresh produce is always available. If you are looking for something specific, we suggest you call the shop to check availability. (814) 466-3411.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
Community Harvest is our certified organic, farm-fresh produce membership. It is part of a larger agricultural movement known as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). In essence, it is a mutual relationship where the farm supports a community of people by growing fresh produce and in return, this community supports the farm by purchasing memberships. There are many different CSA models of distribution and here at Tait Farm, members come to the farm on a weekly basis to collect their share of the harvest. Community Harvest began in the spring of 2000 and is a past Quality of Life Award recipient which is awarded to one business each year by the Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County (CBICC). Online Farmers Market
North Atherton Farmer's Market
We are proud members of the North Atherton Farmers Market (NAFM). NAFM is held on Saturdays from 10am-2pm, May through mid-November at the Home Depot Parking lot on North Atherton Street in State College, PA. The address for Home Depot is 2615 Greentech Drive, State College, PA 16803.
NAFM is a producers-only market which requires that vendors sell only what they produce. We look forward to representing ourselves with beautiful and abundant produce all season long. You will also find local bakeries, specialty food vendors and producers of farm-based products. The NAFM works in conjunction with the ideals and principles established by other markets in the area to provide the same market shopping experience on the North side of town. |
